How did you get started with photography?
Since I was very young, there have been several key moments that shaped my journey as an artist and photographer. One of the most memorable was the first time I stepped into my grandfather's darkroom, where he developed the photographs he took on his travels. The whole experience felt magical, especially the techniques of developing photos in a room lit by red light. After finishing my studies in advertising, I took a trip through southern Mexico, where I had the chance to capture the lives and events of families and communities. It was during this time that I truly discovered how much I loved connecting with people through my camera. When I returned to Mexico City, I held a photographic exhibition featuring those images, and from that moment on, I knew photography would be my lifelong passion.
What do you love about your job?
What I love most about being a photographer is seeing the joy on people’s faces when they realize that my photographs truly capture the vision they had for their project. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that my work not only meets their expectations but also enhances their overall experience. Creating these moments and connections is what makes my role so fulfilling, and I cherish every opportunity to collaborate with clients who share their dreams and ideas with me.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I’ve had the opportunity to work on countless photography projects, from commercial sessions in my studio—like product photography, gastronomy, portraits, editorials, and journalistic subjects—to tourism, sports, and music. I’ve also covered various events, including weddings and family gatherings, as well as international occasions. My goal in my photography career is to learn from different cultures, perspectives, and people. This helps me broaden my horizons and brings fresh ideas and concepts to every project I undertake.
What are some of your favorite places in your city to take photographs?
One of my favorite places to take photographs is definitely the mountains. There’s something magical about getting lost among the trees and watching the sunset as the sky transforms into a canvas of vibrant colors. The sound of the forest adds to the experience, creating a peaceful atmosphere that allows me to connect with nature and capture its beauty. I love how each moment feels unique, and it’s a perfect opportunity to reflect and get inspired by the world around me. It’s moments like these that remind me why I fell in love with photography in the first place!
Another passion of mine has always been sports. Since I was a kid, I dreamed of becoming a professional athlete in some discipline. I’ve played a variety of sports over the years, including soccer, baseball, volleyball, and tennis. However, it wasn’t until two years ago that I discovered disc golf. Now, at 42 years young, I can confidently say that it’s the sport I’ve enjoyed the most in my life! It just goes to show that it’s never too late to chase your dreams!
